The Paskack Junior Woman’s Club in conjunction with the New Jersey State chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs spearheaded the youth creative writing contest, urging students in grades 3-12 to submit short stories based on the theme “The Spirit of Giving,” according to a statement from the Junior Woman’s Club.

In late January, the winners were honored at an award ceremony at the Westwood Free Public Library, the statement said, adding that the selected works will next move on to statewide competition.

Winners include:

  • Anvitha Sandur, Memorial Elementary School, Montvale – Category 2: grades 3-5
  • Kiera Foster, George White School, Hillsdale – Category 3: grades 6-8
  • Gavin Gertson, Park Ridge Jr./Sr. High School – Category 4: grades 9-12
